- Basic Eligibility Check ($19 fee, takes a few days) – If you don’t have a firearm registered, you may need to undergo a full eligibility check.
- Certificate of Eligibility (COE) Holders – If you have a COE, you may bypass some checks depending on circumstances.
What is the maximum amount of ammunition I can purchase at one time in California?
There is currently no legal limit on how much ammunition a California resident can purchase at one time. However, larger bulk purchases may trigger additional scrutiny during background checks.
